Dear
colleagues,
The program has been uploaded to the e-twinning. We are waiting for
the approval in order to have the platform open. If anyone of you want to join,
please answer positively so we can add you as coworker. Here is the General
Description, the Acrivities and the Results. Thank you
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Europe is the common house of
millions of citizens from different countries. Countries with different
language, religion and civilization co-exist adopting the common European
values, as they have been defined by the official bodies of the European Union.
The values of Freedom, Democracy, Equality, the Rule of Law, Dignity and
Adherence to Human Rights constitute the basis of Europe.
The former values should be
looked up and be presented by the students of the schools that will work upon
the specific programme. Through looking for historic events, people and
monuments both in the past and at present, students will be able to better
understand the values mentioned above.
The cultural elements of each
country play an important role in the formation of those values. Their
presentation and understanding by the citizens of the other countries promotes
tolerance and coexistence and strengthens the total value of the European
Union.
We could say that Europe is
like a colorful carpet, each different fabric of which makes the carpet even
more beautiful and valuable.
The projects will be presented
at the e-twinning webpage and each school will post their projects either in
text, video or picture. The projects can
also be in the form of theatrical plays as well as songs. Each teacher can
choose their own way of presenting the projects, always following their own
working manner.
The teachers are responsible
for posting the projects on the e-twinning webpage. English will be the
language of communication. An exception will be made for the presentation of songs
and theatrical plays, which the students can present in their mother tongue.
This programme should be open
to the community of the participant schools, thus the teachers should make sure
that the students parents will have access to the students’ projects. This does
not mean that parents can edit projects; this is exclusively a matter of the
teachers.
The presentation of the
programme to the society of each school increases the value of our students’
projects and strengthens the notion of common Europe in the citizens of each
country.
AIMS
The tasks of the project
should aim at letting students recognize and feel that the values of peace and
living together in harmony are necessary to promote prosperity as well as
economic, spiritual and cultural development so that mistakes of the past are
not repeated. In addition, it is necessary that the students discover and get
to know the most significant human achievements that helped people be led
towards common pursuits and objectives of spiritual development and the
prosperity of Europe.
Moreover, we want students to
learn to accept difference and fight against social discriminations so that
wars and military conflicts can be avoided in the future. Also, we want them to
understand the meaning of rejecting discrimination, that happen due to
religion, sex, different beliefs and external characteristics of the people.
Through multiculturalism, students become accustomed to, learn, respect, accept
and promote peaceful and creative coexistence.
The aim is to understand that
Europe represents our common house and that it should be formulated as a place
without intellectual borders, where ideas, values and achievements such as
freedom, safety and justice can be generously provided to all its people.
The use of New Technologies
will give students the opportunity to communicate and cooperate with students
from other countries in accordance to the goals we have set above. Finally ,
students will understand that the common cultural heritage is a result of the
whole of the civilizations of each nation.
WORK
